Cleaning Humanoids
Humanoid robots that clean are one of the most demonstrated ideas in robotics, but few do it for a living yet. Here is what they can do today and when a purpose-built cleaning robot is the better buy.

What humanoids can clean today
In demonstrations and pilots, humanoids wipe surfaces, tidy objects, load dishwashers and carry laundry, tasks that need hands and a human-sized reach. Most of these runs are slower than a person and often supervised. Floors, the biggest cleaning job by area, are still handled far better by autonomous scrubbers and vacuums, which clean faster and run for whole shifts on one charge.
Where purpose-built robots still win
Purpose-built cleaners are cheaper, proven and easier to deploy. Autonomous floor scrubbers map large buildings and clean on schedules, window and facade robots reach glass safely, and robot vacuums handle homes and offices for a fraction of a humanoid's price. For most buyers today, the right move is a fleet of specialist robots, with people handling the detailed tasks. Most also come with service plans.
When a cleaning humanoid makes sense
A humanoid starts to make sense where cleaning is mixed with other work: tidying, restocking, carrying and wiping in spaces built for people. Hotels, care homes and offices with varied tasks are the likely first users. If you pilot one, measure tasks completed per hour and how often staff step in, and compare that with a specialist robot plus staff time.

Common questions
Can I buy a cleaning humanoid today?
A few humanoids are sold for general tasks that include light cleaning, mostly as pilots or research platforms. For routine cleaning, specialist robots are the practical choice for now.
Will humanoids replace cleaning robots?
Unlikely soon. They are more likely to work alongside floor and window robots, picking up the varied tasks those machines cannot do.
